Lewis Hamilton should be on TV selling tires. Because of Formula 1 licensing and sponsorships, they would likely have to be Pirelli tires. All they need for a 60 second spot are some video clips of the Canadian Grand Prix and a female voice-over.

Yes, a female. Practically any of the Pirelli girls from the starting grid will do. Men will watch a pretty girl talk about anything. Women will listen because they are tired of their husbands telling them anything.

Hamilton won in Canada after a pit on lap 50, coming out in 3rd and passing the leaders within the remaining 20 laps for the win. This was the seventh race of the season and makes Hamilton the seventh race winner. He also takes over the driver points lead… Just barely. Two points separate him from 2nd place overall held by Fernando Alonso.

All of that is detail and not necessary for the commercial.

We use a split screen. A shot of Hamilton’s F1 car from the starting grid on top and a view of a parked Mercedes sedan on the lower. The Pirelli girl standing on the left as an overlay on both scenes.

A quick shot of the start of the race on top as we see a phone handset placed in the cradle and a briefcase close.

“Pirelli tires are race tested around the world to make your drive better every day…”

…Or something similar which sparks the average man’s desire to feel they know how to drive and the average woman’s desire to feel safe while their man is driving. However, for this spot we will have a woman driving the Merc.

He came into the pits with 20 laps to go. It wasn’t a particularly fast tire change as the right rear wheel proved a hassle. That is also not important for the commercial. All we need are some quick shots of Hamilton. A pass along the straight, an entrance to pit road, a shot of tires going on with the logo plainly visible and a shot of the drop and go.

A woman exits a building in a skirt and jacket, carrying the briefcase, opens the door of a Mercedes, buckles up and she checks her watch. She pulls away as the F1 McLaren pulls from the pit stall.

We then flash a quick shot of the leader board, showing Hamilton in 3rd with only 20 laps to go. Throw in some quick angle views that show the McLaren-Mercedes making snap lane changes and quick corner exits.

We see the flash below of a kid at school and another at dance class…

The voice-over girls says “Hamilton brakes and accelerates with Pirelli confidence gaining a second on every lap…”

The woman in the Mercedes is shown on the highway and making turns with tight shots that exaggerate “road speed”…

Flash to lap 62 and show the dive and pass on Sebastian Vettel as kid #1 is getting in the car at school…

“He’s made it to the second spot! One more car to pass but there are only eight laps to go…”

The woman checks the clock on the dash…

Hamilton catches Fernando Alonso, can’t quite make the pass on lap 64 but gets around on lap 65.

The woman gets caught by a red light as Hamilton and Alonso battle on the 64th lap. As Hamilton makes the pass, a girl in a ballet tutu climbs in the Merc.

“Lewis Hamilton gets by and takes the lead with five laps to the finish!”

White flag and one more lap for Hamilton. The Mercedes pulls into the driveway.

Checkered flag and Hamilton wins. The woman is with her family at the dinner table.

Lewis Hamilton is on the podium. The husband says “I don’t know how you do it all…” She smiles and winks…

Both scenes fade to a close up of Pirelli tires. The racing P Zero on Hamilton’s McLaren and the street version on the woman’s Mercedes.

Close the spot with Hamilton standing beside his Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes F1 car and the woman standing with her family next to the Mercedes.
She is wearing a Vodafone McLaren racing fire suit. Hamilton is wearing the skirt, blouse and jacket.

The Pirelli girl closes by saying “Pirelli tires. Winning performance every day… Isn’t that right, Lewis?

After several takes, we manage to get a wink and a smile out of Hamilton. It is possible we got one size too small for the pumps…
