Apparently, it was a Subway weekend.

Carl Edwards drove the #99 Subway/Aflac Ford Fusion to the win at the Subway Fresh Fit 500 in Phoenix. He kept Jimmie Johnson in the mirror and outran a grass cut move by Denny Hamlin.

Edwards’ visit to the winner’s circle broke a 70 race run of finishing on the outside looking in. It had also been 70 races since we saw that back flip thing that he does. Had it really been that long? Everybody knows Edwards flips off the window of his car when he wins even if it was two years since we’ve seen it done.

And how often does the sponsor on the winner’s car match the sponsor of the race? The Subway #99 Ford with Carl Edwards won the Subway Fresh Fit 500. Really… How often?

No… We’re not looking it up. We just think it is an interesting question. Not interesting enough to spend a lot of our time but interesting, nonetheless…

Second race of the season and we’ll see if the surprises will keep coming. Danica Patrick on the pole at Daytona… Carl Edwards breaks a 70 race streak for the win in Phoenix… Bowyer and Gordon did not wreck each other… What other scenario can we dig up for Vegas?

We’ll find out shortly. All we can do is go racing!
