Jimmie Johnson. “J” X 2…

The #48.  4 X2 = 8.

Texas. Pole X 2. Johnson started on the pole two weeks in a row. This one at Texas and the week before at Martinsville.

Texas. Win X 2. Johnson wins from the pole for two straight weeks. Martinsville and again at Texas.

Also like Martinsville, the #2 Miller Lite Dodge of Brad Keselowski was there and in front of Johnson for the lead in the final laps but could not hold against the charging #48 Lowe’s Chevrolet.

Keselowski was up in the front more at Texas than back in Virginia but Johnson was, like Martinsville, holding the lead quite a bit as well and was at the front when it counted.

As far as the “Chase” goes with only Phoenix and Homestead to go it is likely down to Johnson and Keselowski. Clint Bowyer could make a move but it would depend greatly on both of the front runners having some type of incident involving the garage early on. Bowyer is 36 points behind Johnson. Keselowski is 7 points behind Johnson.

Kasey Kahne is 58 points behind the leader and had a shot at gaining some in Texas but a tire and a wall after contact with teammate Jeff Gordon put him on pit road for several positions.

At 72 points beyond the lead is Gordon and Matt Kenseth. Add one more to reach Denny Hamlin.

Tony Stewart comes away from Texas with a top 5 finish but that still only moves him to 80 points back.

Martin Truex, Jr., Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. round out the Chase.

So… The math can really only work for Johnson or Keselowski.  An engine or other mishap could open the door if circumstances fell that way…

But would any of the others really want to win that way…?

Hmmmmm… Let’s go racing!
